Multi-Dimensional Systems of Healing

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a method of natural healing based on the application of 'Universal Life Force Energy'. The name 'Reiki' literally means Universal Life Force Energy.

In Japanese, 'Rei' means universal and 'ki' means life energy. Reiki was practiced as a healing therapy in ancient times by Tibetan Buddhists. This knowledge was forgotten until the 19th century, when it was unearthed by Dr Mikao Usui, a theology teacher who was initially trying to discover the force behind the healing hands of Christ. The principles of Reiki were said to have come to Dr Usui in a vision. In honor of his discovery, Reiki is also known as the Usui system of natural healing.

Reiki is an ancient laying on of hands and long distance healing system, which has been practiced in India, China and Japan for thousands of years. According to Reiki philosophy, illnesses are caused by energy blockages in the body. The practitioner draws upon the universal energy and lays their hands on or over the patient. The energy then flows from the practitioner's hands to the patient's body and moves the blockages that are causing the illness. There is no manipulation, massage, acupressure or any other form of manual therapy performed on the patient. Reiki can, therefore, be considered as a spiritual 'laying of hands' style of treatment.

It has become the basis of spiritual healing used by most massage therapists, polarity and rebirthing therapists since the early 1960’s. There are large numbers of nurses in the medical profession who also use this form of healing in intensive care, childbirth and hospice terminal care situations. It has been medically proven to increase red and white cell production to restore balance in the body to promote healing. Reiki eliminates pain, stress and inflammation and naturally empowers the body to heal itself. Supporters of Reiki believe that it can be an effective form of healing therapy for a wide range of disorders - emotional, physical or spiritual, including:

  • Stress-related disorders, such as headache and insomnia
  • Serious disorders, such as coronary heart disease and cancer
  • Emotional problems, such as depression
  • Skin problems
  • Low immunity
  • Chronic pain

Karuna Reiki

Karuna is a Sanskrit word used in Hinduism, Buddhism and Zen. It means to take away the suffering of others and could also mean to take compassionate action. We, as human beings find it very natural to extend compassionate action to another and help whenever possible. When we experience enlightenment we experience all people and the earth as one. We become aware of our thoughts, words, deeds and actions and how they can affect everyone around us. As we become more responsible for our own life and the part we take in it, it affects all of us and we all heal from each other.

Karuna Reiki is an energy that is extended out of love to ourselves and others. It is stated in Buddhist literature that Karuna must be accompanied by prana or wisdom to have the right affect. Karuna is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings working to help end all suffering on Earth.

Karuna opens us to work more closely with all enlightened beings, including those that are physically present and those in spirit. Usui Reiki is a beautiful loving healing energy and Karuna has been known to be more powerful. There is more than one healing energy in this world and Karuna is but another that intensifies what we already know. You must be trained in Usui Reiki first since this energy is advanced and moves quicker for faster healing, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Karuna Reiki was developed and named by the International Center for Reiki Training. All symbols were channeled prior to the Center developing it, however, William Rand during meditation came across attunements and more knowledge about this beautiful powerful healing energy and decided upon the name from the compassion in us all we are constantly developing for ourselves and others.

The Buddhic-Karuna Reiki includes 19 symbols; seven master symbols and twelve treatment symbols. All symbols are given in one attunement. Adam David was initiatied as a Buddhic-Karuna Master Teacher and Practioner by a Buddhic-Karuna Reiki Master from Mexico City who was initiated by a Karuna Reiki Master from Toledo Spain. Three additional master symbols and two treatment symbols were channeled in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in 1999.
